Former finance minister, Mr. Emmanuel Shaw, Monday testified on his own behalf at Criminal Court ‘C’ where his laundryman and housekeeper, Varnie Minor, and three accomplices are on trial for allegedly stealing US$20,000 from the ex-government official.

Varnie Minor along with Stephan Sieh, Maruana Fahnbulleh and Jebbeh Kamara are accused of allegedly stealing US$20,000 from Mr. Shaw’s residence in Congo Town.

But the men, who were indicted by the grand jury of Montserrado County in 2009 for theft of property and criminal facilitation, have since denied knowledge of the crime.

He narrated that prior to leaving his Congo Town residence to move to his Thinker’s Village home in Paynesville, he had received US$21, 000 as fee for his director.

He narrated that prior to leaving his Congo Town residence to move to his Thinker’s Village home in Paynesville, he had received US$21, 000 as fee for his director.

He claimed that he placed the amount in a drawer in his bedroom in Congo Town where defendant Varnie Minor, the housekeeper, was the only person having access to his bedroom.

He said, upon my return, I discovered that the US$20,000 was missing.

Meanwhile, the case continues today with further testimony from Mr. Shaw.
