A Senegalese female universal artist is currently in The Gambia to promote her music as well as seek for assistance to develop her career.

With one album under her belt entitled ‘Force Marriage’, the masterpiece album basically talked about the current appalling situation in which young girls are forced into early marriages. Tabara Diop, a 23 year-old Senegalese star earlier on visited Mauritania, Mali and believes this Gambia visit will further open up her career as an international recording star. Her visit is purposely to build strong partnership with her Gambian counterparts as well as learn from them and exchange ideas crucial to the development of the Senegambia music scene.

During a chat with What’s On, the Senegalese star said her current Gambia visit will accord her the opportunity to participate in the ongoing sensitisation compilation to create more awareness on the forthcoming presidential election slated for November 24th 2011. She pointed out that the visit also serves as an addendum to her career stressing that it will also pave the way to connect with the country’s music scene. She described the openness of her Gambian counterparts maintaining that they are willing to associate with her each time and she is also willing to learn from them. “I have good cordial ties with stars like Bala Ranks and others” she stated.

The star, who played in restaurants and other big concerts back in Senegal was inspired into music by stars like the South African music angel Mariama Makeba and others. “I came from an area in the neighbourhoods of Dakar where making a living is very difficult and this trend forced me to quite school for music. However, I like singing when I was going to school. Over the years, I have seen Senegalese musicians coming up and performing in The Gambia and all this inspired me to also come and promote my music as well as seek for help to develop my career,” she concluded.
