The woes of the Nigeria Football Federation took another jolt Wednesday with the withdrawal of Proserv, a private security outfit which has kept faith with football house for almost two decades.
Operatives posted to man the glass house shocked visitors and staff alike yesterday when they abandoned their duty posts over what one of the affected security personnel claimed was NFF failure to pay up arrears of wages.
He claimed that the backlog has ran into several millions in the past two years or so, adding that despite several effort by the outfit to get paid, the football house has remained adamant.
Proserv owned by a popular sports personality, we gathered has written several letters to the NFF management but failed to get the desired answer. The sudden change of stance by the outfit it was also learnt, may not be unconnected with the crisis rocking the football body.
The operative revealed that Proserv management decided to call out their staff after shouldering the payment of the salaries of the six security personnel for the past two years.
“Our boss asked us to stay away from work beginning from today because the NFF has not responded to communication concerning the unpaid wages. this is a bad is not good for us because as I speak with you now, we don’t know what next to do”.
It was further gathered that a meeting between the management of the security company and the NFF may not have yielded any dividend hence the decision to call the operatives out of duty.
