Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has praised former team-mate Jordan Henderson after he completed a big-money move to Liverpool.
Henderson, 20, is billed to have a big future having already made over 70 appearances for the Black Cats and Bent, having seen the prospect up close at the Stadium Light, had positive words for not just the player’s ability, but also his attitude.
Bent told Liverpoolfc.tv: “When someone tells him he can’t do something or that he’s not good enough, it’s straight on to the training ground to prove them wrong.”
Henderson said after his move to the Merseyside giants that he would be would be looking to the likes of Steven Gerrard to help him improve and Bent echoed the youngster’s words and further praised his work ethic.
“He just wants to improve,” he continued. “There’s no side to him, nothing cynical.
“He likes a laugh and a joke in the changing room, but at the end of the day, he is what he is – a nice, grounded young lad.”
Henderson is set to play a key role in England’s under-21 European Championship campaign this summer, starting on Sunday against Spain.
