There is a strong perception out there that the two dominant political parties in Ghana today seem to have entered into a tacit, unwritten agreement to “chop and let me chop Ghana small” whenever in power. This is setting a dangerous precedent for the country and it threatens the very foundations of our democracy

Ahmed Elmohamady has completed a permanent move from Egyptian side ENPPI to Sunderland following a season-long loan.

The loan deal contained a clause allowing Sunderland to execute a full-time deal at a pre-arranged fee and Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has taken up the option.

Bruce told the club’s official website: “Ahmed has done well in his first season with the club and has shown plenty of potential.

“We look forward to helping him grow as a player and I think there is much more to come from him.”

The 23-year-old has signed a deal which will keep him at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2014.

Elmohamady made 38 appearances for the Wearsider’s during last season, notching three assists but failing to find the net despite occupying the right midfield berth.

During his time in Egypt, Elmohamady was used as a right-wing back and hit 17 goals in 71 appearances for ENPPI – form which attracted interest from other British clubs, including a trial spell at Blackburn Rovers.

Elmohamady also has 42 caps for his country.
