Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has dismissed insinuations that he is planning to ditch the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) on whose platform he won the governorship election, saying doing so would amount to an affront on the party’s leader, Muhammadu Buhari.
Soon after the governorship elections in the state, rumours started making the rounds that Almakura, who floored his predecessor, Aliyu Akwe Doma, was planning to return to the PDP which he left to join the CPC before the polls
But he has denied reports that he is having business with the PDP, saying that to contemplate on dumping the CPC, is even an affront at General Muhammadu Buhari, the party leader who he reveres because of his principles, as well as his prominent position in the country as a former head of State.
Al-Makura had at his inauguration dedicated the historic change in Nasarawa to General Buhari whose political ideologies he said had inspired the people to “defeat the fear factor that handed the PDP a red card in the state, 12 years after.”
A press statement by his acting media aide, Abdullahi Ogoshi also denies alleged friction between the new governor and his party, one of the reasons adduced for his speculated plans to dump the party.
“There is absolutely no friction between His Excellency and his party, the CPC that could lead to any consideration to dump the party, barely two weeks after he was sworn in as governor.
“His Excellency is in total and absolute agreement with the principles and people oriented policies of the CPC and is set to implement them for the general well-being of the people of Nasarawa state”, the statement said.
