Two Football Kenya Limited (FKL) Nyanza South League matches were abandoned at the weekend. Mosocho abandoned play during their match at Anyona after the hosts were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute. By the time of abandonment, Anyona was leading 3-0. Arthur Ouma scored twice for Anyona while Victor Otieno added the third.
At Nyangusu playground, hosts Nyangusu Combined were given a walkover after visiting Eberege failed to raise a team for the game. Visiting Vijana FC defeated Borabu Hotspurs 1-0 at Menyenya playground. Augustine Ombaye scored the all important goal in the 27th minute. Rigoma United also defeated rivals Birongo FC 1-0 at a waterlogged Rigoma market grounds.
Vincent Mokua scored the lone goal in the 22nd minute. At Kisii University grounds, hosts Nyaura FC battled to a 1-1 draw with Mwanga. Robert Oyugi put Mwanga ahead in the 18th minute before Sunday Ouma equalised for the Nyaura. Gucha FC defeated Muungano 2-1 at Kenyenya playground in a match that was held in memory of local FKL treasurer John Aroni, who died last week. Aroni was buried on Friday at his home in Bomachoge, according to local FKL secretary Johana Omare.
