Sunderland have announced that a fee has been agreed with Liverpool concerning the potential sale of England midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The starlet has been heavily linked with a move to the Merseyside club in recent weeks, with some recent reports pointing towards a £13 million fee with David Ngog moving the other way to add weight to a possible deal worth around £20m in total.

Now the Black Cats have made it known the two clubs have come to an understanding, without announcing the exact details, and all that remains is for the player and his potential new employers to come to an agreement over personal terms.

A statement on Sunderland’s official website reads: “Jordan Henderson will hold talks with Liverpool after the two clubs agreed a fee for the midfielder.

“The 20-year-old, who played for England under-21s on Sunday, is set to discuss personal terms with the Anfield club.

“A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield today with the club’s blessing.”

Liverpool then said on their club website: “Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson.

“The 20-year-old will today discuss personal terms and undergo a medical on Merseyside after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.”

Neither club have yet confirmed whether Ngog will be involved in the deal or if the agreement is a cash-only transaction.
