Mumias Township scored two late goals to beat Cheptais Combined in the Teso Peace Cup match at Kipsis Primary School ground on Sunday. Abdalla Mbaruk headed home the first goal from a corner kick taken by Abdalla Makau.
Bakari Okutoyi made it 2-0 when he connected a pass from Abubakar Shikanda with Cheptais goalkeeper, Alex Olekete beaten all the way. Cheptais fought back gallantly to score the consolation goal with Collins Kamwanja heading home a corner kick taken by David Sikulu.
County Council of Mt. Elgon chairman, Rophas Rophas Siyoi appealed to Harambee Stars management board to consider tapping talents which he said abounds in the area instead of concentrating only on urban areas.
Teso Peace and Human Rights Development Initiative executive secretary, Cleophas Okisai said his organization was considering offering training to coaches and referees from the area which he said had abundant talent but had not been tapped.
