Illiya Mohammed, 18 and Sani Yusuf, 19, were convicted for Joint acts and theft, offences contrary to Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutor Francis Udofia stated in court that on June 3, the complainant reported to the police that on the same day, the accused persons snatched a lady’s handbag and immediately sped off on their motorcycle.
He said other motorcyclists in the area chased the accused persons and eventually apprehended them along Nyanya/Karu road, Abuja.
When the charges were read to them, they pleaded guilty and begged for forgiveness.
Chief Magistrate Ahmed Shuaibu sentenced each of them to one year imprisonment without fine option.
He also ruled that the sentence handed down to the convicted persons should run concurrently.
