Ashanti Regional NPP executives have described as ‘unfortunate’ a decision by the party’s former Majority Leader in Parliament to go independent.

Abraham Osei Aidoo declared his intention to independently contest the Tema West Parliamentary seat after failing to recapture the seat from the incumbent, Naa Torshie.

His decision comes after Mr. Osei Aidoo accused some national and regional executives of the party of bias in the NPP’s recent parliamentary election.

Though many political analysts have described the decision as a “big blow and threat” to the party’s unity, Mr. Osei Aidoo said his decision was non-negotiable and irrevocable.

However, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, Samuel Pyne, has said immediate measures should be put in place by the NPP’s Council of Elders to curtail such decisions.

Samuel Pyne said party executives in the region were working tirelessly to avert any such unfortunate developments in the Ashanti region.

He is however optimistic the flagbearer’s “all hands on desk” clarion call will stand despite the unfortunate incident.
