Goran Stevanovic suffers first defeat as Ghana coach

Goran Stevanovic suffered his first defeat as Ghana coach following Tuesday’s 2-1 defat to South Korea in an international friendly.

The Serb had not lost a match since his investiture in January this year and had a 3-1-0 record as Black Stars coach before the match played at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium in North Jeolla Province.

Stevanovic’s side conceded a goal at the death of the game after striker Asamoah Gyan made up for a first half penalty miss to draw level in the second half.

The 46-year-old was seeking to continue his winning spell after guiding the Black Stars to a 3-1 win over Congo last Friday in a 2012 Nations Cup qualifier.

The former Partizan Belgrade boss missed the services of regulars John Mensah, Michael Essien, Samuel Inkoom, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Andre Ayew and Prince Tagoe.

His next assignment will be another exhibition match against Nigeria to be played in England in August.
