Luanda — The secretary general of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Parliamentary Forum, Esau Chiviya, is since Saturday afternoon in Luanda, to attend the 29th Plenary Assembly of the regional organisation that will take place in southern Huila province from May 5-12.
Also in Luanda since Saturday to attend the meeting are the delegations from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
The Mozambican Parliament speaker, Verónica Nataniel Macamo, arrived Friday in Luanda for a five-day official visit to Angola, and will in the meantime travel to Huila’s capital city, Lubango, for the regional meeting.
The SADC Parliamentary Forum was established on September 8, 1997, during the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Windhoek, Namibia.
The meeting will bring together SADC countries’ MP to discuss parliamentary cooperation.
It will also seek to reinforce the SADC execution capacity through the participation of MPs in the activities of the organisation. It is intended to be a forum for discussion of matters of interest to the member countries and facilitate the implementation of regional policies and projects.
