By Ikechukwu Nnochiri ABUJA -The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has formally entered a 15-count criminal charge against the embattled former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, before a Federal High Court in Abuja. The prosecuting counsel, Mr Festus Keyamo, is currently perfecting the filing processes at the High Court registry, with a view to getting the Chief Judge, Justice Ibrahim Auta, to promptly assign the case-file to any available trial Judge.  Surprisingly, none of the 15-count charge preferred against him, related to either the controversial N10 billion loan saga or the previous N2.3 billion car scandal that rocked the 6th session of the House of Representatives.

Heidar Helguson has penned a new one-year deal with QPR after he helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

The Icelandic foward scored 13 times for the Hoops last season, helping them finish top of the Championship under Neil Warnock.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” the 33-year-old told QPR’s official website.

“My future lies here. You want to get things sorted out as early as possible and I’ve been able to do that, which feels good.

“I wasn’t sure what was going to happen when I came back last season, but I spoke to Neil (Warnock) and he wanted me to stay.

“I was happy with my (goals) return last year and to be able to play a part in winning the league was fantastic.

“Heidar made a massive contribution last year, and he’ll play a big role again for us in the top-flight next season,”said Warnock.

“He’s a big presence in the dressing room; a steadying influence in both training and on matchdays; and he’s a great professional.

“He’s also got the experience of having played in the Premier League, so I’m delighted we’ve managed to agree a new deal with him.
