QPR defender Peter Ramage believes every player at the club has a point to prove next season when they return to the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.
Players such as the Newcastle born full-back is one of a small number of players at the club who have had encounters of the top division before and after two serious knee injuries, the defender insists he must prove to himself that he can still play at the highest level.
“Joining QPR was a chance to play regular football and apart from last season, that is exactly how it has worked out for me, but I feel that I’ve got a point to prove to myself next year,” he told skysports.com.
“I always aimed to help get QPR into the top-flight since I joined from Newcastle and hopefully I’ll get the chance to show that I can compete in the Premier League next season.”
The 27-year old made 69 appearences for his hometown club before switching to London in 2008 and he hopes that players with top-flight experience will help the less knowledgable players throughout the campaign.
“There is a sprinkling of top-flight experience in the squad, with Rob Hulse doing well for Sheffield United and Fitz Hall at the back, so a lot of the lads know how to adapt to that level already,” said Ramage.
“Hopefully, they will help the lads that haven’t played in the Premier League before to settle down quickly to the style and pace of the game.
“A lot of the players here, including myself, have had to drop down from the Premier League because we probably weren’t good enough at the time, so now we have got the chance to prove that we are top-flight players and a top-flight team.”
