Newly-promoted Norwich City continue to strenghen their team for the next season with the signing of Millwall striker Steve Morison.
Morison, who has been on international duty with the Wales squad in the Nations Cup, has signed for an undisclosed fee for on a three-year deal.
“Norwich are a massive club who have earned the right to play in the Premier League, and as a player that’s where you want to be,” Morison told the club’s official website.
The former Stevenage Borough striker netted 17 times for the Lions in the Championship last season.
Morison is the Canaries’ second signing of the summer with James Vaughan signing from Everton, having been on loan at Crystal Palace last season. “We’re going to need to be as strong as we can in every department,” said boss Paul Lambert.
“Steve is a natural goalscorer who will significantly add to what is already a very competitive striking department. That is what we will need in the Premier League,” he added.
The Welsh striker began his career at Northampton Town before dropping into non-league football where he had spells at Bishop’s Stortford and Stevenage Borough. Morison was then signed up by Kenny Jackett and scored 40 goals in his two seasons at the New Den.
Morison, who put in a transfer request to Millwall last week, has gone from playing non-league football to Premier League football in just two years.
“Obviously I will be delighted to join Norwich when the deal is completed. They’re a massive club who have earned the right to play in the Premier League and obviously as a player that’s where you want to be,” said MorisonÂ
“I had to work hard when I was playing non-league football but since then after joining Millwall it’s been a rapid rise for me and now I’ve got the chance to play in the Premier League, to enjoy every minute of it and hopefully do everything we can to try to stay there.
