Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima has confirmed he is in negotiations with a number of clubs, including West Brom.
Kawashima, 28, confirmed it is likely he will leave Belgian club Lierse SK, who he helped avoid relegation in the 2010-11 season.
The former Kawasaki Frontale keeper is currently in his homeland with the national team preparing for their Kirin Cup clash with Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Kawashima said: “Talks are still going on with West Brom and we are waiting for people to start moving.
“I am talking with my agent but I am not in a rush. I will wait until the middle of June or something.
“I am talking with a few clubs but I have to look at the conditions, whether I can play or not and what the club are thinking. Then I will take my direction for next season.”
Kawashima has been a regular starter for Japan since the 2010 World Cup, which means he is unlikely to have any work permit problems.
The Saitama-born keeper, who speaks English fluently, would become the second Japanese to play for the Baggies if he joins the club, following Junichi Inamoto.
Kawashima has implied that he would consider only offers from clubs where he will be the first-choice goalkeeper.
Other clubs rumored to be interested in Kawashima are Galatasaray and VVV Venlo.
