Ondjiva — About 71 children in the southern Cunene Province attended last Saturday the first provincial meeting, that was held in Ondjiva City, to inform the young ones about the eleven commitments taken up by the Angolan government for the welfare of children.

The meeting, which was held under the theme “For a better future let us take care of children”, was chaired by the provincial director of the National Children’s Institute (INAC), Hélder dos Santos.

During the meeting, Hélder dos Santos said that the meeting aimed at discussing issues like the country’s national reconstruction, mainly the building of schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, aiming for a guarantee for the rights and duties of children.

He stressed that the government is very much aware about the innumerable needs of children, with the objective of creating conditions for their healthy and harmonious growth.

Meanwhile, two local children have been elected to represent the province in the fifth Children National Forum, to be held on 21-23 June, in Luanda.
