    Freetown — Artists United for Children and Youth Development (AUCAYD) on 28th May, 2011 launched its first advocacy album title, “Give some little love to the children” at the British Council auditorium, Tower Hill in Freetown.

    The album, which comprises of 14 tracks, deals with peace and stability and care for children especially those affected by the decade civil conflict. This grand album launching brought together (AUCAYD) partners, including War Child Canada, Youth Education Specialists, Jonathan Lea-Haward and other personalities in advocacy work for children in Sierra Leone.

    Music is said to be one of the simplest means of communicating with the people and the young artists have used the album to explain challenges faced by children who find themselves in the streets of Freetown and other partners of the country.

    Director of Artists United for Children and Youth Development, Mohamed Samba Kamara, during the launching ceremony, expressed delight and the bravery his membership had endured to ensure that the rights of those affected children were maintained in their respective communities.

    He said the group was established in 2007 as a youth-led, non-profit making, community-based organization with the notion of bringing young people into their folds to better plan their future and to be united for peace and development.

    (AUCAYD) has been transforming the minds of children and young people at various communities using artistic approach through music to advocate on social issues affecting young people and children; especially on poverty, environmental protection, health and sanitation, human rights, education and peace.

    This has created a platform for young people to learn, share and interact with their peers through arts, culture and media technology, using information communication and technological approaches as a way of bridging the digital divide.

    This latest album is also aimed at empowering and promoting the talent of young people for self reliance and to be responsible citizens.

    The organization will as well storm the provinces with this latest album, advocating for children in remote communities.
