Telecommunications company, MTN, has said that its venture into the satellite business has given itstelecommunications operation a great lift.

The company  participated in this year’s Satellite Communications, SATCOM, Africa,  Conference, held in Johannesburg, South Africa.  The company through its MTN business arm is providing satellite services, ranging from equipment to bandwidth and others.

Speaking to Vanguard  at the venue of the event, Business Partner Manager of MTN Business, Mr Richard Kabeya, said the satellite business has aided MTN’s operations in the telecoms sector and is  making huge investments to remain in the top league of the sector.

Kabeya noted that though  Africa is behind in satellite market share in the global chart, MTN was making tremendous effort to boosting Africa’s satellite market share,  which has also led to the company’s  growth in the business.

He said that MTN has  prominent clients, who it provides satellite services to, which will  translate into substantial earnings for the company.

According to Kabeya, participating in the 2011 SATCOM Conference has provided the company with additional exposure, knowledge in the current dynamics of satellite business and position it better to see what competition is doing.

He believes that the company’s market share in the business would surely rise in the coming months if it explored the numerous interest arising from traffic in its exhibition stand at event.
