Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not try to sign West Ham midfielder Scott Parker this summer, according to reports.
Speculation has centered around the Frenchman looking to bolster his midfield this summer, with the West Ham man believed to the one of his top transfer targets.
The News of the World report that chief scout Steve Rowley is a big fan of Parker and he has been putting the idea of signing the England international to Wenger, however the Frenchman doesn’t see him as someone that fits in with his plans.
The player’s age is one of the main factors putting Wenger off the Englishman as he very rarely goes for players approaching the age of 30 – which Parker has already reached.
It is understood that Wenger will focus on the South American and French markets for potential signings with Rowley already having spent time on the continent, whilst it has been suggested that the Frenchman himself will attend several matches during the summer’s Copa America in Argentina.
