Parma forward Fabio Borini is unrepentant about his move abroad after helping Swansea gain promotion to the Premier League last season.
The former Chelsea youngster helped the Swans move up from the Championship via the play-offs but is passing on the fruits of his labor in favor of a move to his native country.
However, the 20-year-old hopes his maturation abroad may lead to a move back to England one day.
“I thought for a couple of hours
after the play-offs at Wembley that I had a great opportunity to stay in Swansea and play in the Premier League, which I would like to do,” he said according to Sky Sports.
“Maybe it’s a missed opportunity not playing in the Premier League, but maybe this is a good thing for my career and will make me stronger.
“I have no regrets. Parma is quite a big club with a big programme for the future.
“Maybe I will do well there and I can come back to the Premier League later in my career.”
Borini scored six times in just nine appearances during his loan spell at Swansea, and has since fulfilled a pre-contract agreement to move to Parma this summer.
“I really enjoyed my time at Swansea, the people there were really happy to have me and they helped me every day,” he added.
“Even when I went shopping in Sainsbury’s, people stopped me, encouraged me and asked me to stay. It was a great atmosphere.”
