Lokoja -Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, member representing Okene 1 Constituency, Friday emerged Speaker of Kogi State’s 5th House of Assembly.
The News agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that this followed the inauguration of the House by Gov. Ibrahim Idris.
Bello, in a returning senator was nominated by a new member, Mr Friday Sani of Igalamela/Odolu Constituency and was seconded by Nathaniel Taiwo of Kabba/Bunu constituency.
Emmanuel Omebije (Dekina-Okura, also a returnee) was elected Deputy Speaker following his nomination by Malam Lawal Momoh-Jimoh of Okene II and seconded by Alhaji Yakubu Yunusa of Ofu.
Inaugurating the legislature, Idris urged the members to borrow a leaf from their predecessors with whom he had a cordial working relationship.
