A technical mistake in the printing of Office Administration qualification certificates and academic transcripts has been singled out as the reason why a number of students at the Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WTCV) still have not received any documented proof of their qualifications.

On Monday morning The Namibian received an anonymous letter from students who were engaged in Office Administration training at the WVTC, who had allegedly written their final exams in December last year, but to date had not received their academic records or statement of results.

Furthermore, the concerned students indicated that they were due to receive their qualification certificates following their final exams, but they have had no feedback from the WVTC or the Namibia Training Authority (NTA).

The students say that they have only received their results verbally, and therefore have no proof of their qualifications.

Paulus Haukongo, Principal at the WVTC, has said that academic transcripts and results statements can be obtained from the Windhoek campus, but acknowledged that there had been a technical error in the printing of the certificates and transcripts.

Haukongo indicated that there had been spelling errors on the certificates and transcripts, but that WVTC and the NTA was aware of the problem and was in the process of rectifying it.

“Some of the certificates and transcripts have been printed and are available at the Windhoek campus, those which are not there, are still in the process of being re-printed,” the WVTC principal said.

Haukongo added that in some instances, students have outstanding accounts and as a result those students would not be issued with academic transcripts, results statements or qualification certificates.

Furthermore, the WVTC principal added that there were cases where some students could not be issued with qualification certificates because they had not passed all the required modules. These students could however be issued with academic transcripts.

Haukongo said that any student with queries or issues relating to their qualification certificate or academic transcript should contact the Head of Training at the WVTC.
