Audio Attachment Listen to Chris Ackumey Lawyer Chris Ackumey says he is unfazed by the Chief Justice’s invitation to him to substantiate his claim that a judge he knows took a bribe of GHS500 in 2008, adding that he has an incontrovertible and overwhelming evidence to prove his claim. Mr Ackumey who noted that he appreciated the opportunity to give his evidence, reiterated in an interview with Joy News’ Dzifa Bampoe Tuesday that corruption in the judiciary is real and no longer a perception on paper. He first made the bribery allegation whilst contributing to discussions on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme on Saturday and promised to name the judge at the appropriate time.

Coach Samson Siasia says victory over Argentina in today’s international friendly match would be a welcome relief after a long history failed efforts against the South Americans both as a player and coach.

Nigeria is dogged by a specter of defeats in the hands of Argentina, thrice at senior and twice and the junior levels; but Siasia believes that it is about time that ugly part our football history is re-phrased in favour of Nigeria.

“It will be a great feeling if we win, but the match against Ethiopia is more important” declared Siasia who as Super Eagles player, scored against Diego Amando Maradonna propelled side at USA ’94 World Cup but still lost the encounter. That history was to be repeated at 2002 and 2010 World Cups. At the Beijing Olympics and Netherland 2005 U-20 World Cup, Siasia lost both finals as coach of the junior teams.

But Siasia believes that given the past experiences, the Eagles is in better position to correct the past errors and win this one.

“It has always been fun playing Argentina; we are going into the game with our pride. Playing at home this time is good for us even though we are building a new team. It may not be all we expect but it is going to be a good game”.

Siasia pointed out that the approach today would be to open the opponent up and score goals, hinging the anticipated victory over Argentina on the ability of the super eagles to hit target first in the game and forcing the visitors to chase the game.

“We want to score first and force them to chase the game. It is also good that we don’t have Messi who is not just mesmerizing clubs in Europe but is a problem for every player. So his absence is good for us. But seriously speaking, we want to play well and give the fans something to remember. But whichever way it goes, we have to know that this is a friendly game”

Siasia who spoke at the press conference ahead of the big clash was full of gratitude to Guinness for arranging the high profile game. He expressed hope that the gesture will not be a one off.
