Journalist Timothy Kalyegira is processing his papers for bail after Grade One magistrate Juliet Tanga granted him Shs1 million non-cash bail on Wednesday.

The bail at City Hall Court came more than seven hours after Mr Kalyegira, who together with other prisoners were bussed to court about 9am, remained confined at the Court cells.

Daily Monitor newspaper Education Editor Charles Mwanguhya and Investigations Editor, Chris Obore, as well as Makindye West MP Hussein Kyanjo, stood sureties for him. Each was bonded at Shs2 million (non-cash).

Mr Kalyegira, charged on Tuesday with criminal libel and remanded to Luzira Prisons, returns to court on June 30.
