BRIEFCASE hopes that by now everything is in place as the country hosts the AGOA forum in Lusaka next week.

Zambia will thus be on the spotlight when more than 2,000 delegates gather at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre where US secretary of state Hilary Clinton will be in attendance along with other dignitaries from the World’s biggest economy.

Zambian entrepreneurs should fully utilise the forum and form business partnerships while those in the service industry and other sectors should be there to offer quality services. This will sell Zambia!

    Beware of imitations

UNSCRUPULOUS suppliers of goods, particularly soaps and detergents, have become more sophisticated that their packaging and labelling are neat for customers to notice that they are in fact imitations.

Briefcase has received complaints from some customers who discovered that some brands of soap which were neatly packaged had rough surfaces and did not produce sufficient foam in water.

Retailers and customers should carefully examine the labels and packaging of soaps because imitations have flooded the market.

It is gratifying that the Bank of Zambia is working hard to facilitate the opening of banking institutions in all districts in the country.

If the Central Bank and other players succeed, it will mean that people in the 13 districts which are unbanked, will have financial services at the doorsteps.

With the rapid infrastructure development, commercial banks should spread their branch network to the rural areas and fill the void.
