Your Excellency have you been invited to the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan and are you attending, if you are not attending, why? It is true there is going to be, I don’t know whether its inauguration, but I think a new government is going to be sworn in tomorrow and this is in accordance with the constitution.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Plateau State chapter is engulfed in deep post election crisis following suspicion from members that the funds sent by the national secretariat of the party to the state for the purpose of the just concluded elections were misappropriated.

Some members had alleged that the national secretariat had sent huge sums of money to the state chapter before the elections but such monies were not made available to members for logistics.

Based on the suspicion, some of the members met and suspended the state chairman, Amos Gizo, after accusing him of “misappropriation of party funds, high handedness in handling party affairs, personalizing party issues and anti-party activities.”

But the state exco met on Monday and reviewed the action of the aggrieved members who suspended the chairman and concluded that most of them were not members of the state working committee of the party and therefore not authorized to take such decisions on behalf of the party.

The meeting then suspended four of the members; Gambo Mbilamut, the senatorial candidate of the party in the central zone, Isaac Agason, Innocent Maimagani and Yahuza Garba for indiscipline.

The suspension was confirmed by the party chairman, Amos Gizo, who said all the allegations levelled against him were baseless.

But when contacted, Mbilamut said the meeting that suspended Gizo was properly called and that the chairman was even in attendance when the motion to suspend him was moved, saying the minutes of the meeting were there for all to see.

He described his suspension from the party as “absolute nonsense” and the “clutching of straw” saying there is no way a suspended chairman can call a meeting of the party.
