Former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel stated this while reacting to the appointment. Daniel said the new SGF given his rich background and experience in the public sector has what it takes to add value to governance and help in the implementation of  policies and programmes  that would help in achieving the laudable objectives of the Federal Government.

James Vaughan has stated he is looking forward to kick-starting his career, following his £2.5 million transfer from Everton to Premier League new boys Norwich City.

The 22-year-old spent almost all of the past season on-loan at Championship side Crystal Palace – scoring nine goals in 30 appearances – after playing just 17 minutes for Everton right at the start of the campaign.

The striker has often been unlucky with injuries, a fact that could perhaps excuse his less than impressive record in front of goal, however, the England Under-21 international is sensing a change in his fortunes after becoming the Canaries first summer signing.

Speaking to Sky Sports Vaughan said: “I’ve been unfortunate with injuries but I’m hoping that all that’s behind me now and I’m looking to push on with the rest of my career.

“It’s a great club and I’m looking forward to setting some foundations down here, hopefully getting myself into the team and doing well for the club.”

Vaughan is by no means expecting to walk into the side, particularly with Norwich’s two main strikers both getting into double-figures last season as Grant Holt netted 23 goals and Simeon Jackson grabbing 13 of his own.

He continued: “You don’t get promoted two years in a row without having good players in the squad so I know that it’ll be a battle.

“But I’m going to be doing everything I can week-in, week-out to try to get in the team.”

His new manager, Paul Lambert, also had some words to say about his new striker, believing that Vaughan’s Premier League experience is a valuable asset.

Lambert concluded: “He’s a handful and he’s 22, which I think is a really good age.”

“He’s had a lot of experience in the Premier League before with Everton – he made his debut at 16 – so he knows exactly what it’s like.

“He’s only a young lad so people shouldn’t get too carried away that he’s the finished article, but hopefully he’ll provide the hunger and desire that I’m looking for.”
