The Daily Observer (Banjul) 31 May 2011 editorial We wish to commend Roland Lumumba, the son of Africa's nationalist icon, Patrice Lumumba for his recognition of the Gambian leader's commitment to Pan Africanism. We also share his aspiration that it is time for Africa to move away from mere talks to action in unity. This is fundamental because it is now 50 years since the noble idea of African unity was initiated

Gambia have named a complete twenty-four member team set to face Gabon, a release dispatched to ForoyaaSports by GFA’s Terema Dahaba reveal.

Gambia will fly to the West Central African country with a couple of key-players missing out for the friendly as midfielder Abdoulie Mansally, defender Kebba Ceesay, Momodou Ceesay, Saihou Jagne and in-form wing-wizard Aziz Corr Nyang are left out of the contingent.

Under fire Djurgardens goalkeeper Pa Dembo Touray will still lead the team as captain and is likely to start between the sticks for the Scorpions ahead of surrogate goalkeepers Musa Camara and Alagie Nyabally.

Midfielder Tijan Jaiteh is enlisted for the showdown after he missed out in the 1-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea- due to travel arrangement. Omar Jawo, Mohammed Mbye, Pa Modou Jagne, Abdourahman Dampha, Demba Savage and eighteen season goal-thriller Mustapha Jarju are also part of the invited players.

U-20 captain and play-maker Saihou Gassama of Real Zaragoza is surprisingly named – kudos, he deserved it following a blistering performance in the U-20 African Championship.

Njogu Demba who was waived out of League One club Notts County will join the team in Banjul. Another unexpected inclusion is veteran Edrissa Sonko though he is doubtful for the duel at press time
