Nairobi — Kenya Football Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya has written an appeal to Fifa to urgently solve the crisis in Kenyan football by setting an election date.

While congratulating Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who will be unopposed at the world football governing body’s elections on Wednesday, Nyamweya said the Kenyan issue should be on top of Blatter’s agenda.

“I’m happy for Blatter but now that he is sure to be president of Fifa for another four years, he should first help Kenya by ordering an election date,” said Nyamweya.

The Independent Electoral Board has said the election will be held in June but Nyamweya said that is not practical because an audit of the clubs is yet to be done.

“Fifa must as a matter of urgency work with Kenyans to ensure that credible elections are held soon so that we can have leaders with a heart for the game.”
