Abuja — About 20 people died yesterday from two bomb blasts at the Mammy Market of Gadawanta Barracks in Bauchi State, just as three people were injured in another blast which occurred at Lagos Park in Zuba, outskirt of Abuja.Though details of the blasts were sketchy as at press time, the director-general of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Sani Sidi said necessary arrangement was being put in place to contain the situation.

He added that most of the victims had been moved to hospitals for treatment while the dead bodies had been deposited at the mortuary.

NEMA officials also report that there was no serious casualty at the beer parlour in Zuba where the incident occurred as the three victims took themselves to hospital.

Confirming the Bauchi incident, the Force public relations officer, Mr. Shola Amore, said that casualties were high, adding that some of the victims were soldiers.

According to him, most of those rescued are in critical condition and may not survive. The mammy market had been cordoned off just as rescue operations continue.
