Legendary African singer Prince Ndedi Eyango, who was in the country recently to celebrate his country’s 51st anniversary of independence confessed that his previous visit seventeen years ago challenged him to learn English.

The singer behind the monster hit, You Must Calculate, a popular feature on URTNA back in the day told Word Is that communication barrier was a main hitch during his tour which extended to other African countries including Zambia. “When I came to kenya in 1993 I had to use a translater in my press conferences which was a bit boring, “he revealed.

Prince Eyango performed at the event courtesy of Kenya Airways in conjunction with the Association of Cameroonians living in Kenya where he was the chief guest at the Gala Dinner last Saturday at the Hilton Hotel.

The Annual Cameroonian Gala Dinner marked 39 years of re-unification of the French-speaking and the English-speaking regions of Cameroon.

Born Eyango Ndedi Eyango, he is popularly known by his stage name Prince Eyango and his ‘You Must Calculate’ hit song released in 1987. It was the rated number one record of that year all over Africa. At the Saturday event, Prince Eyango performed some of his chart-topping hits of the 1980s and 1990s.

Prince Eyango moved to the United States in 1993, where he has been based since. He has also been a producer and owns Preya Music, a production company. In 2000, he was nominated for World music category at LA Weekly Music Awards.
