Hamburg are on the verge of securing the services of Michael Mancienne from Chelsea for €3 million (£2.6m), according to Bild.
The German side are desperate to strengthen their back line in the summer, with Mancienne emerging as their first transfer swoop.
The 23-year-old centre-back is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday and will sign a contract until the summer of 2015 upon completion.
Mancienne is a product of the Chelsea youth academy, but failed to secure regular first team football at Stamford Bridge, and has spent loan spells at Queens Park Rangers and Wolves in the past few seasons.
