Mustafa Abdul Jalil, chairman of the Benghazi-based National Transitional Council, did not suggest in an exclusive interview Saturday with CNN that the rebels would pull back in their fight against Moammar Gadhafi's government.

The WASH Alliance is an initiative that wishes to build capacity to create a system change of WASH for the benefit of the poor and disempowered. Actors from different sectors in Bangladesh, Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nepal and Uganda have come together within their own countries to co-create the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH Programme) with the WASH Alliance in the Netherlands. In Ghana the programme is focusing on triggering improvements in the Northern Region, specifically in 4 Districts that are yet to be decided.

The 5-year initiative has started since Jan. 2011 and is now seeking a Country Coordinator to manage its activities in Ghana.

Role of the Country Coordinator:
The Country Coordinator is the person to facilitate this process of alliance and program building. His/Her main roles will be to:

  1. Facilitate alliance and trust building process
  2. Facilitate vision and mission development, create program unity (a shared WASH mission, vision, objectives and resulting from this a shared program, to which each party contributes with its own unique added value)
  3. Facilitate of capacity development & learning
  4. Aggregate WASH work plans, budgets, and reports at country level (but not approval of reports)
  5. Facilitate Communication between the Northern WASH alliance and the Southern Alliance

Remuneration and secondary job benefits:

  • The position will be Full-time
  • Remuneration will be competitive with a salary comparable with similar positions in Ghana
  • The Successful candidate will be given a Consultancy contract with Simavi, the Lead Agency for the Dutch Consortium. Contract will be initially 1 year after a probation period of 3 months. Subject to good performance, contract will be renewed for another year with prospect for 5 years
  • Geographical scope will be national and successful candidate will stationed in Tamale

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • At least a second degree with minimum of 5 years working experience
  • In-country knowledge and network within the WASH sector and in working with stakeholders from public, private and civil society
  • Proven track record in programme development and implementation
  • Experience in WASH related cross cutting areas such as gender mainstreaming, right based approach and food security issues
  • Strong planning and reporting skills. Candidates will have to demonstrate capability in writing of technical and project related reports
  • Candidates should be willing to travel (mainly national, occasionally international)
  • Experience of working in the Northern Region will be an advantage
  • Good communication skills with experience in alliance building, networking and facilitation skills
