It would be the first time Mr Assad has been targeted personally by the international community for his government's crackdown on protesters. AS part of its contribution to make this year’s Children’s Day in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) goal, the management of the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Isolo Brach, feted account-holder children at the weekend.

Union Bank has a range of kiddy’s product, which includes the Kiddies (account for children within the age range of 0-12) and teens’ account there are also undergraduate account and the corpers account.

Business Development Manager, Mrs. Seyi Ladega, said the purpose of the event was to enable the children have a feel of what banking is all about and to instill saving culture in them.

According to her, 10 children were selected from the Kiddies account holders; some were invited while others were children of customers. The last set, she revealed, opened accounts during the celebration.

Several Union Bank branded gifts such as T-shirts were given out as souvenirs.

“The children have been working tirelessly trying their hands on computers, attending to customers and are excited about this. They have been enjoying themselves,” Ladeja said.

Some of the children told The Guardian, the gesture gave them opportunity to catch fun.

“I have gained a lot of things and learnt how to talk to customers by being nice to them, I also typed in the names of those who made withdrawals; used the counting machine to count money.

So far I have enjoyed myself and I had opportunity to know more people,” said one of the beneficiaries.
