Florent Malouda has backed the potential arrival of Guus Hiddink at Chelsea this summer.

Following Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking after defeat to Everton on the final day of the season, the club have been in search of a new manager.

Hiddink has been strongly linked with the role following his successful four-month spell in 2009, which ended with Chelsea winning the FA Cup.

Malouda believes Hiddink would be welcome back at Stamford Bridge and insists the Dutchman has the ability to guide the club to silverware after a barren season.

“I have a lot of respect for him,” Malouda told Sky Sports News.

“When he came we were in a difficult situation in terms of results.

“He brought back confidence I think. He improved our game and led us in the Champions League and FA Cup.

“He put the club back on the right way. It was short term. It was really quick, but it was really intense.”

Malouda is happy the club is taking their time regarding the appointment and is confident the right decision will be made.

“You have to take your time to make the right choices and that is what the board is doing.

“I think we have a strong squad and when you want to add ingredient to the squad to have to take your time.”
