Aaron Ramsey admits that the pressure is on Arsenal to succeed next season

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has admitted that he and his team-mates are under pressure to deliver silverware next season, the club now having gone six years without a trophy. 

The Gunners were on course to chase the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup in March but threw all of those opportunities away in quick succession, leading many Arsenal fans to question both Arsene Wenger and his squad.

Speaking to The Independent, Ramsey accepted that the pressure was increasing at the Emirates but insisted that the spirit within the Arsenal camp is good.

He said: “Obviously we haven’t won anything for a long time. The pressure has grown and the fans have been quite vocal lately.

“But the spirit in the dressing room is the same as always. Everyone gets on with each other so there is nothing wrong with the team spirit.

“Hopefully we can go on and win a trophy next season.”

The Wales captain also stated his belief that Wenger will make moves in the transfer market this summer, with many believing that Arsenal need to invest heavily in their defence.

He said: “I’m sure there will be changes like any other season but I expect Arsene will be active in the transfer market.

“There have already been a few names mentioned and I am sure there will be a few players in and out.”
