Federico Macheda is expected to leave relegated Serie A side Sampdoria and head back to Premier League champions Manchester United, his agent Giovanni Bia has said.

The 19-year-old Italian striker started just three games following his January loan switch. And, after ‘Doria dropped into Serie B following a dysfunctional campaign, Macheda will return to Old Trafford.

“There is a 90 per cent chance Federico Macheda will remain with Manchester United,” Bia told Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“After Saturday’s Champions League final, I will speak to Sir Alex Ferguson, but there is a 90 per cent chance Macheda will remain with Manchester United.”

Parma and Fiorentina have been linked with the striker as reports suggest he may leave United on another loan deal.
