Moshi — THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has promised to continue sponsoring the annual Moshi’s TPC Open Golf tournament.
The NSSF Director of Operations Crecentius Magori said that the sponsorship is part of pension fund’s strategy to support the community which they serve, revealing that at least 70 per cent of TPC workers are NSSF active members.
“NSSF is proud to be associated with the TPC Golf Club and we hope our sponsorship will assist the club organise and manage the up coming tournaments and many others in a professional manner,” Magori said.
He added: “We hope our sponsorship will not only increase competition and excitement, but it shall promote the sport in Tanzania and contribute to the positive social development of the country as NSSF is committed to meeting member’s evolving social security needs and expectations.
The TPC’s Corporate Services Executive Officer, Jaffari Ally said that the NSSF support helped the club tremendously and would go a long way into making the future tournaments exciting and competitive.
“NSSF’s sponsorship has given the TPC Golf Course a facelift. The sponsorship is timely and we really commend NSSF for their kind gesture that will go a long way into making the tournament a big success,” he said.
NSSF disbursed some 11m/- to fully sponsor the tournament which hosted the TPC club. The tournament attracted some 70 golfers including professional golfers from various club in the country that include TPC Club, Moshi Club, Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and Arusha Gymkhana Club.
Some of the professional golfers who participated in the tournament were John Davies from Leisure Lodge in Mombasa, Fadhil Nkya, Bryson Nyenza, Geofrey Leverian, Yasini Salehe and Hassan Kadio; all from Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and David Helela from TPDF club in Dar es Salaam.
