Although the excitement of the Ecobank Super League was sorted on Tuesday with URA clinching a fourth title, there is issues to furnish at the wrong end of the table.
Maroons, Utoda and Fire Masters are still fighting for dear life as one of them will join Gulu United in the lower division next year.
Asaph Mwebaze, the Maroons coach, offered his wisdom that it will go down ahead SC Villa’s visit to Luzira Prisons ground today.
His team has 22 points in 11th, level with Utoda, a position lower. “We need to pick a result to give ourselves a chance going into the last game,” Mwebaze said.
They have struggled to score this season with only 12 goals in 24 games, only Gulu with five have found the net less often.
Villa assistant coach Paul Mukatabala is not in courteous mood as the record champions have been off-colour all season seeing them slip into mid-table with 37 points.
Utoda, now hovering just above the relegation zone that has Fire Masters (19) and Gulu (6), travels to Nakivubo to face the dethroned champions Bunnamwaya.
Fighting to the end
Off an impressive 1-0 victory over Simba, coach Abu Kigenyi need his team to keep the fight for the final three games. “It’s important that we gave ourselves a fighting chance. That’s the spirit and we must carry into our last games,” Kigenyi noted.
Elsewhere, Fire Masters, who have Gulu visiting, know that even six points from the final two games may not keep coach Badru Ssenkayi up for a third year.
There is some comfort for Masaka after winning two away games to move to 25 points and another victory over Proline at home will prolong their stay in the topflight.
Meanwhile Victors will play their last home match against Express at the Fufa Technical Center artificial turf in Njeru. This comes after local elections scheduled today will be held at Kakindu stadium.
Club chairman Lawrence Kato confirmed the shift.
