The Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) has released national team players to join their respective clubs.Tanzania put up some stupendous displays at the ICC-Africa World League Division 2 T20 in South Africa last week only to miss a Division I berth narrowly.

The team skippered by batsman Hamis Ablallah lost their footing on the final day to finish fourth behind Nigeria, Ghana and Botswana.TCA chief executive officer Zulfikar Rehemtullah reiterated his praise for the team and advised them to keep on training hard. “We’ve officially broken the camp because there are no international tournaments now.

“I urge them to be committed to their clubs, they are fantastic players, but they have yet to reach the peak, so they really have to work hard to improve their games,” he said.

Abdallah and Khalil Rehemtullah have already flown to the UK where they ply their trade. The duo feature for an English first division club, Watford Town Club, that also signed another local batsman, Benson Mwita recently.

Mwita, who played an instrumental role for the national team in South Africa, landed a one-year deal last month and is expected to make his debut soon.

According to the TCA chief who also doubles as the national team coach, the body would summon the players in September. “We’ve a busy schedule from September to the end of the year, so we’re planning to set a lengthy training camp,” he said.

The skipper said after failing to qualify in South African, they are now hard-pressed to improve.”We had some decent performances there, but it was painful to lose our final matches.”Everyone is going to join his respective club, but I’m confident that we’ll come back much stronger,” he said.
