Dar Es Salaam — Orphanage centres countrywide are set to benefit from money to be accrued from a youth soccer tournament planned to kick off in a few days.

Preparations for the tournament, which will also help to unearth talents, are in full swing and yesterday, Diana Women Empowerment Organisation, a Dar es Salaam non-governmental organisation, presented a trophy to Survey Veteran Club.

Organisation patron Emmanuel Ole Naiko said the money to be accrued from the competition will boost the organisation’s ability to help the orphans. “Our mission is to help the orphans in the country, so we believe this tournament will help us to solicit some amount for our cause,” Naiko said.

Naiko said the organisation now runs its activities mainly by way of volunteering after most of local and external funding have dwindled lately. The patron thanked Tunu Pinda, the wife of Premier Mizengo Pinda, for her invaluable assistance to the organisation.
