Abuja — The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has appointed Pillar of Sports Kwara State, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike as member, Sports and Environment Commission, and Sports for All Commission to revitalise sports development in the country.

The president NOC, Engr. Sani Ndanusa announced the appointment on Tuesday when Ejidike paid him a courtesy call in Lagos. Engr. Ndanusa described Chief Ejidike as an epitome of honour and sports philanthropist who has been contributing to sports promotion and development at grassroots and national levels in Nigeria. “This visit is a mark of respect and genuineness in sports development. We are going to partner with you; we shall carry you along since sport is a veritable tool for transformation and continuity, we shall work together to make this country great,” Ndanusa reiterated.

Earlier, Chief Ejidike said his visit to the NOC was to fraternise and partner with the body to effectively utilise the instrument of sports to reposition Nigeria in nation building. “I am well aware of the tasks of sponsorship, grassroots sports, technical crew and coaches as well as other requirements for sports promotion and development. In the real sense of it, government alone cannot do it which calls for partnership with corporate organisations and philanthropists. In this aspect I want to reiterate my readiness to partner with NOC to move sports forward in this country. The All Africa Games, Commonwealth Games and even Olympics are around the corner, the various federations and authorities concerned particularly the government should rise quickly to the challenges and requests for successful outing at these Games.
