Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam on Wednesday said that he was not scared by the petition filed against his election by gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Prof. Steve Torkuma Ugbah over the just concluded governorship election in the state.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Suswan who said ACN petition cannot be sustained since the pattern of votes reflected the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) domineering influence in the state, explained that his lawyers were capable of handling the case base on the facts before them.
The governor recalled that during the last general elections in Benue State PDP won two out of the three senatorial seats leaving ACN with one, adding that the fact that PDP won 20 out of the 28 seats in the state house of assembly is enough to show PDP supremacy.
He said in the Federal House of Representatives election, PDP defeated other contending parties to win eight seats out of 11 vacant seats, saying that the result of the presidential election, where the PDP polled 694,776 votes as against the ACN’s 223,007 votes should give opposition in his home state the acceptability and popularity of the PDP.
