Heritage Party leader Godfrey Miyanda has welcomed the MMD’s call for inter-party dialogue and praised President Rupiah Banda for embracing peace and reconciliation.

General Miyanda said it was paramount to have a meeting of all political parties to discuss issues surrounding the political arena before the country goes to elections this year.

Speaking during a live phone-in programme ‘Let the people talk’ on Radio Phoenix yesterday, Gen Miyanda said as a family, all political parties should sit down and break the ice of tension that had covered the political scene, leading to insults among political parties.

“We are a family and because of this we need to dialogue in order to resolve the issues that have led to political differences and tension in the country,” he said.

He commended President Banda for embracing inter-party dialogue and urged him to continue extending the invitation to all political parties.

Gen Miyanda also called for truthfulness in all political parties during campaigns by articulating issues properly and not concentrating on insults.

He called on all political parties to use the past to guide them in brightening the future for the sake of developing Zambia.

He was also encouraged by the growing interest of foreigners investing in the country.

He said foreign investment had the potential to contribute to the economic development of any country.
