Martin Skrtel: This has been my best season for Liverpool

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel says the 2010-11 season was his best for the club so far.

The Reds endured a torrid first half to the season and found themselves in the relegation zone at one stage, but they have had an upturn in fortunes since the arrival of Kenny Dalglish as manager in January.

And despite the club having missed out on European football, Skrtel, who played every minute of the Reds’ Premier League campaign, is pleased with his season.

“It’s probably been my best season, because I have played every single game – but it would have been better if the results had been better,” he said, according to the Liverpool Echo.

“When I came here, a lot of people talked about the way I play, and many said I didn’t have the quality to play for Liverpool.

“Many of them were from Slovakia, and I was determined to prove them wrong.”
