Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists that the Spanish club have not heard anything official from Manchester United about making a move for goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Old Trafford outfit have been linked with several keepers as Edwin van der Sar prepares to retire after the Champions League final on Saturday, with the club having previously confirmed that a target is in place.
De Gea, who Goal.com revealed on Saturday was United’s first-choice target for a fee of £17.5 million, has for some time been linked with a move away from his current employers, and Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the club’s interest on Tuesday.
But Cerezo told Cadena Ser: “We don’t know anything.
“Officially neither Manchester United or the player at this moment have informed us of anything.
“He knows very well that he can negotiate with other clubs but always that they have to pay his buy-out clause.”
