Alberto Aquilani‘s agent believes that the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Italian midfielder will be resolved by next week.

The 26-year-old moved to Liverpool in 2009, but an injury he carried from Roma prevented him from playing a significant part in his new side’s season, and he was subsequently sent to Juventus last summer on a temporary basis with an option for a permanent switch.

After the completion of the loan, the Italian side failed to offer the agreed £16 million first option to complete the transfer, but Aquilani’s agent is optimistic that a deal will be reached.

“The percentage that Aquilani will remain at Juve is above 50 per cent,” said Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavaglia to la Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He has three years left on his contract with Liverpool.

“I believe that in a couple of days the two clubs will reach an agreement.”

He added: “Juve should have paid £16m for the buy-out clause but I don’t think there will be any problems regarding the financial aspects.

“I believe within the next week everything will be resolved.”
