Freetown — Ports Authority, Diamond Stars and Freetown City FC will seek a bounce back from defeats suffered last week as the trio will all be in action this weekend in the Africell-sponsored Sierra Leone Premier League.
Ports Authority, who lost the top-of-the-table clash against Kamboi Eagles last Friday, will entertain third place Wusum Stars in another top flight duel today (Friday) at the National Stadium. Coach Christian Cole’s side had remained on course for the league title but their 2-1 away defeat to league leaders Kamboi Eagles has been interpreted by some as a big setback to their title challenge.
Poor defending contributed to Ports Authority’s first defeat in the league and assistant coach, Hassan Milla Sesay expects an immediate response from his players in today’s encounter against Wusum Stars. The match is expected to be a tough duel between the two, as victory for the host will see them overtake the visitors by moving to second place and will cut down the six-point deficit to Kamboi Eagles to just three. On the other hand, a win for Wusum Stars would see them move to second and cut Eagles’ lead to just two points.
The other match of the day will see second place Bo Rangers entertain 10th place Mighty Blackpool in Bo, while leaders Kamboi Eagles host the reinvigorated Kissy All Stars.
Another side that would be seeking a bounce back from defeat is Diamond Stars who suffered a 1-0 defeat to champions, East End Lions last week. The Gem Boys will host Old Edwardians in Kono today.
After a disappointing 1-1 draw with Central Parade in midweek, champions East End Lions will welcome the league’s bottom team Area Best in Freetown on Saturday and on Sunday, Freetown City FC takes on Central Parade.
